Summer Crafts To Give Kids Lots Of Fun

When boredom looms and the weather’s hot, get everyone involved in summer crafts for kids. Kids are always excited to be free from the school routine when they are let out for summer break, but it isn’t long until they start wondering what to do. Summer crafts for kids will keep them occupied and maybe even teach them a thing or two.

In summer, crafts for kids can involve found objects, like seed pods, grasses, and similar objects. Let kids create nature collection collages by gluing these items to a stiff piece of cardboard. Help them spray paint some of the findings with silver or gold paint. Alternatively, they might like to glue glitter to some of the findings. Perhaps they would also enjoy collecting wild flower seed heads and creating dried flower arrangements. Arrange the bouquet in a homemade vase.

A vase for summer bouquets, fresh or dried, is another craft that naturally fits into the summer crafts for kids category. A simple vase can be made from a tin can. Soup cans work particularly well because they are smooth on the outside and rather narrow. Be sure to file off any sharp spurs on the inside opening. Start the work of art by cutting a piece of construction paper or other colored paper to fit around the sides of the can. This will be glued to the outside of the can, but first it needs to be decorated.

The vase cover can be decorated in many ways. The child can draw a summer scene on the paper and then decorate it with glued on glitter or small stickers of summer things. Another idea is for the child to write their name in large letters, and glue beans, seeds, or glitter to the letters. Let all glue dry before attaching the paper to the outside of the can. Add water and fresh flowers or leave dry for dry flowers.

You can also use the can for a trinket container or a place to put pens, pencils, and markers. To make them real summer crafts for kids, glue grass seed heads and found seed pods to the paper in a decorative way.

Jar vases make good summer crafts for kids, too. Canning jars make particularly cute vases, but any cast off mayonnaise, pickle, or other jar, even plastic ones, can work, too. To make a jar into a vase it first needs to be sparkling clean. Kids love getting wet in the summer, so let them roll up their sleeves (or put on a bathing suit!) and have fun splashing at the sink while “washing dishes.” When the jar is clean and dry, tie an attractive ribbon around the opening. If desired, decorate the outside of the jar with glued on beads and buttons.

Summer crafts for kids will provide some cute decorations around the home and keep the kids from being bored. This summer, crafts for kids should be at the top of every parent’s To Do list!

It is always a smart idea to look into what the weather is going to be like, before going camping. There are websites available to provide information about the typical weather of the area for the time of your planned trip. When you know what to expect, you will have the right clothes packed and know if you will need a tent or warm sleeping bags.

See if you can integrate swimming into your camping trip. When camping, you might find yourself missing your shower. You will find yourself feeling clean and refreshed after a dip in cool water. This can lesson the desire for your home bath.

The lint from the dryer actually is great to help start campfires. Start collecting the lint about a month prior to your trip from the filter in your dryer. Place a bag near your tumble dryer and just stuff lint from the dryer’s filter into the bag every time it is full. This is a good way to have kindling ready when it is time to go.

Camp needs to be set up before night begins. This means a safe parking place for RV campers. Search for flat, dry ground when camping in a tent. Choosing a site before night falls gives you an opportunity to get used to your surroundings. This will also let you avoid the frustration of doing it when it’s not at easy to see what you are doing.

Before going to a new place to go camping, you need to know what dangers may be lurking. This would include stuff like what spiders dwell there, how steep the terrain is, and if the area is prone to flooding. Each area can pose different dangers, so familiarize yourself whenever you venture somewhere new.

Pack plenty of food of the proper variety. You don’t want to bring a lot of food that will easily spoil. Your camping trip will be ruined if you get food poisoning. Properly prepare food and take any necessary precautions.

If a pet accompanies you to the campground, do not just let him or her run free. You may encounter people with a fear of dogs. It’s important to think of other people when you’re out there camping. Dogs can also damage campsites, or get into the belongings of your neighboring camps, without proper supervision.

It is really critical to make sure that you pack the essential items and equipment for camping. Even letting one particular item slip your mind can devastate your trip. The creation of a list of all the things needed and use of that list when packing will be helpful. The most basic requirements are a tent, water, sleeping bag, an all-purpose knife, food, matches and soap.

Be very aware of the place where you have decided to set up. You need to avoid setting up your camping site close to wasp’s nests and other insect breeding grounds. If you are near lots of trees and leaves, wear long pants and sleeves so you aren’t upset by insects. This way you ensure your safety as much as possible.

Take A Utility Knife

Utility knives are great to have when camping. It is even better if you have more than one. The versatility of a utility knife makes it priceless when you are out camping. Bring one to slip into your pocket and throw a backup knife into your bag. You never know when your utility knife will come in handy!

Always make sure that your cell phone is with you when you get to your campsite, and it should be fully charged. The best idea is to bring a couple of extra batteries to maintain your phone. A cell is the most important tool you have in an emergency, so be sure it works. You might also want to carry one of the portable solar chargers for your phone.

The old reliable duct tape is an important piece of camping equipment. Tents are fairly strong these days, but aren’t completely resistant to tears. A piece of duct tape is sure to fix any damage on your tent and can ensure a safe, dry night in the woods.

Know how to use a compass and map before you head into the woods. If you are lost, this skill can help you to navigate back to your destination. Also, this will help to avoid tragedy with friends or family.

While creating a survival kit, include waterproof matches. Keep them in a container that is airtight. You can make regular matches waterproof by dipping them into either paraffin or nail polish. You can also make a caddy for them out of a 35mm film container or a medicine bottle made out of plastic.

Camping is one of the most rewarding ways to relax. It lets you get away from the stresses of life and gets you into nature. These tips will turn your next trip into a magical one!
